About
Pétanque

Pétanque is a French sport with
one hundred year history. Petanque requires
the coordination of hands and brain. The
rule is not difficult: “Whoever throws
the ball closest to the jack is the winner”.
During a competition, strategies and logical
analysis are used to hit the opponent’s
ball away from the target ball or to help
teammates hit their ball closer to the jack.
It’s very easy to play but very exciting.
The original meaning of petanque in French
is “Standing with both feet on the ground”.
This is the standard posture for throwing
a ball. Petanque is a smart sport that requires
the coordination of hands and brain. The
rule is quite simple, whoever throws the
ball closest to the jack is the winner,
but the game requires the skills strategies
and logical analysis. Players need to know
how to hit their opponent’s ball away from
the jack, or help their teammates hit the
balls closer to the jack. One throw can
often change the game and outcome. It is
an easy but very exciting sport.
