Interview with the section chief of P.E.

1. How long have you been in the position of the section chief of physical education?

Answer: 7 years up to this year.

2. Did you take the job because of your love to sports?

Answer: Yes. I studied in physical education related department in college. I contacted many interesting sports activities, and learned much physical education administrative affairs, so that I have been in this position for so long.

3. Do you know the Petanque Team coaches in previous years at school?

Answer: The Petanque Team was established later about 5 years ago. There are only two coaches who have taken this position. I was the first coach while the second coach is the current coach, Teacher Rong-rui Hsieh.

4. What do you think about the qualification for joining the Petanque Team?

Answer: In fact, the physical requirement for a petanque player is not high. A person with healthy physical condition, enthusiastic learning attitude and passionate sports mind can participate in the sport.

5. How do you recruit students?

Answer: The first method is that we select players from the candidates by examining the basic physical abilities of the students, and observing the learning attitude of the students. The second method is to get recommendation from class teachers.

6. Have you considered being the Petanque Team coach?

Answer: I have done that.

7. Do you feel Xisong Petanque Team players practice hard enough?

Answer: Certainly. They practice very hard.

8. Do you understand more about Petanque after being the Group Leader of physical education?

Answer: Being the team starting coach of the Petanque Team, of course I have certain understanding about petanque. However, there are very few advanced studies regarding petanque, so I cannot constantly update related information. I could only utilize the chance in every competition to exchange the information with the coaches from other teams.

9. When you are in the position of the Group Leader of physical education, do you help train the Petanque Team players?

Answer: When Teacher Hsieh is not available, I always go to do his job.

10.Do you feel that it is too early or too late for a fourth grader to join the Petanque Team?

Answer: For the contact to any sport, it is certainly the longer the better. As far as for the elementary school students, a fourth grader is just a good age to join this sport.

11.What are the advantages or disadvantages for Xisong Elementary School to develop Petanque?

Answer: Advantage: Sufficient place and equipment. The court is very square, and is similar to the one for competition. Disadvantage: Not enough professional training procedures. The coaches in many other schools are good petanque players, so the improvements of their team are relatively faster.

12.Do you feel that petanque is fun?

Answer: It is fun, and good for any ages. The whole family can start a match any time, and it is not easy to hurt our body.

13.Do you think our Petanque Team at school can be developed into the size as large as the one for handball team?

Answer: Of course it is possible. Due to the limitation of coach number, we do not consider developing the team to be too big for now. Also, the place and equipment will not be enough if we have too many players. We control the total players in 10 to 16 people currently.

Interview review

We went to Ecological Pond this afternoon to interview the Group Leader of physical education, Teacher Chong-his Wu.

In the process of the interview, I noticed that Teacher Chong-hsi Wu attentively answered the questions we asked, and patiently and carefully explained his answers for our questions. Moreover, he entered his answers into the computer, and printed out the file for us so that we did not need to record the interview. The teacher said that he has spent 30 minutes to type in these answers. I was very impressed.

From this interview, I learned that Teacher Chong-hsi Wu has been the Group Leader of physical education for two years. He clearly recalled the coaches of the Petanque Team at school, since he was the first coach of the Petanque Team. The teacher also said that any person who was interested in sports could join the Petanque Team. This taught me a lot.
