When students are in their fall semester of Fifth Grade, the shuttleball coach will ask the teachers to have some shuttlecock lessons in their P.E. classes and to observe if there are any prospective members.  If the students are willing to join the team they have to pass the primary test, which includes kicking the shuttlecock, the 80-meter dash, the shuttle run, and the asterisk-shaped dash.  After the primary test, they need their parents to sign an agreement for join the team.

Usually they don’t recruit too many members due to the limit of players in the game.  If they have too many members, there will be a lot of bench players then.
