Interview with Mr. Dung in Tang Mei Elementary School

 ....................................................................

Q1: How long have you been teaching?

A1: I have been teaching for twenty-six years so far.

Q2: How long have you been playing shuttle ball?

A2: Around twenty years.

Q3: What made you start playing shuttle ball? Were you voluntary or assigned?

A3: I was a homeroom teacher and a coach of the volleyball team at first in 1988. After Mr. Ding introduced shuttleball to Tanmei elementary school, we started playing shuttleball instead, because of our poor grades in the volleyball games.

Q4: What’s your main job now?

A4: As the chairperson of the Taipei city shuttleball committee, I am not only the coach of the shuttleball team, but also the one trying to make it more popular in the world now. I am responsible for its promotion and holding games.

Q5: Do you have any idea of holding new games or activities now?

A5: We hold two games annually—Youth Cup Shuttle Ball Game in May and Chung Cheng Cup Shuttleball Game in November. And in August, there is a big game between Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Canton Province in China.

Reflecitons

Because we were trying to get back to school before class in the afternoon, we reviewed our questions well before we took a taxi to Tanmei elementary school for the interview yesterday afternoon. After the interview with Mr. Dung, we realized that the shuttleball teams in Taiwan had actually been in the international games, and we also got a lot of new information about shuttle ball. It was great!
