The Origin of Taiwanese Shuttleball

 ..................................................................

Though the origin of Taiwanese shuttleball was from traditional shuttleball, nowadays the former is quite different from the latter after being added a ball under the shuttle by Master Min-shou Li.

In the very beginning, shuttleball was in the same size as the traditional shuttlecock and without the ball underneath.  It started coming with a ball when turning to its second generation.  In its fourth generation, the shuttle and ball could be taken apart since we could change only the part where it was broken.  However, the shuttle had been changed to yellow from white in color and was not made by real feather anymore, and the ball was white in its fifth generation.  After the sixth generation, all shuttleballs are almost the same that their shuttles are purple and balls are yellow.  In a matter of fact, shuttleball has been developed to its tenth generation, nevertheless, the ball part is too big to kick in the tenth generation so people usually use its ninth edition only.

In the past, it was usually stuffed with cottons or foams inside the ball while it is made of plastics at present.  Both of them has a little hole in the ball part to allow the air come in.
