Q1: How long had you been the coach of the shuttleball team?

A1: I was the coach of the shuttleball team from 1995~1999. We were champions every year.

Q2: How old is the shuttleball team in Xisong elementary school?

A2: 21 years.

Q3: What made you to the coach then?

A3: It was because I was one of the “founders” of Taipei shuttleball.

Q4: Was shuttleball a popular sport then?

A4: Yes, it was much popular. There were about ten elementary schools and eight junior high schools with shuttleball teams.

Q5: What do think of being a coach of shuttleball team?

A5: It takes time and a lot of energy but it is also very interesting and challenging.

Q6: Do you want to coach again if you have chance?

A6: No.

Mr. Xao was one of the most experienced teachers in Xisong elementary school. I was very surprised to know he was one of the founders of the shuttleball in Taipei City, and the team got champion every time when he was the coach. He was super!

During the interview, Mr. Xao also provided us with an useful shuttleball website. I t hink we can learn more from it.

Mr. Xao was very humorous. He told us a lot of the story of the shuttleball team in Xisong. I was very curious why he didn’t want to be the coach again since he was such a great one before. However I didn’t ask him about it, maybe I will try to find out the answer next time.
