Afterthoughts on the friendship game against the school shuttleball team

Through the efforts of the preceding days, the day of competition has finally come. The game was set at noon. We ran to the court to have more practices right after we finished our lunch. Since our skills were far behind the shuttleball players, the teacher thought of a way out. The teacher sent me and Hung-pang respectively accompanied with one and the other shuttlecock team players. I was grouped with a fifth-grade player, and Hung-pang was grouped with a sixth-grade player. After the very competitive game, we won. It was really exciting!

I still feel that shuttleball is hard to play after this game! We have practiced for so long, but I still played so bad. The shuttleball players performed so skillfully. I think they must practice hard.

Afterthoughts on watching the game

For the game against with the shuttleball team players, our Cyberfair project team practiced for a long time, and finally two representatives were chosen.

The game was held yesterday. We could not play the game against with the shuttleball players for the gap between the skills of the players. We changed the way of grouping, teaming up one shuttleball player and one project team member.

In the beginning, the shuttleball was almost reached and passed by the shuttleball players, it was our teammates’ turns only when the shuttleball flied toward them. Well, it was good enough. If it was me in the game, I would probably stand still with no idea what to do. Nevertheless, our team members did not how the show their abilities, as for they missed several kicks. Unexpectedly, one of the project teammates almost beat the shuttleball player. If the shuttleball players were defeated by our teammates of the Cyberfair project, they must feel very frustrated. After all, they are professional and we are amateur.

The result was that one team lost for four points behind. What a shame. It was obvious that they already have worked their best.

Today is the day of the game of our project team versus the shuttleball team. We sent out two representatives. Each one of them was grouped with the shuttleball player from the school team. During the game, I got more knowledge of the shuttleball rules and noticed how they used the margin of foot to kick. Our teammates played seriously in the game, even sometime kicked the shuttleball far. We felt that they were equally as athletic as the school team players. Well, the shuttleball team players were stronger and more skillful, as they have practiced much longer. The final score was 21 versus 17.

Today is an important day. We must send out two representatives to play against the school shuttleball team players. The teacher was afraid that the gap of the two team would be too great, so that the two groups were the mix of one of our project teammates and one of the school team players.

In the beginning of the game, they are very competitive. Although our teammates could not get many opportunities to show what they learned, their performance was not their best either. They indeed practiced for so long. Shuttleball sport is not easy at all. On the other hand, except some misses, most of time the shuttleball was in the shuttleball players’ control. It was really amazing. At last, the game was over at 21:17.     

When the game was over, we practiced by using the shuttleball made out of newspaper by our two teammates. Even though I tried hard to do my best, I could do no more than three kicks. It seems that learning shuttleball has to confront many setbacks.
