Mr.Tsai took us to try playing shuttleball today. This was my first time to touch the shuttleball. The bottom of the ball was quiet interesting. Whenever you squeezed it, the air would come out. I could only kick one or two continuously. Although it was hard, I thought it was still easy than playing shuttlecock, for the area of the kicking was bigger. Now I could realize why the players can’t kick it back and forth many times even though they can kick the shuttleball alone well. It was not easy and it needed a lot of practice. That was why the players practice everyday. It took a long time to be good at playing it.

It was sunny yesterday, so Mr. Tsai took us to play shuttleball. At first, I thought it should be easy, but soon I realized that I was totally wrong!! Playing shuttleball was not easy at all. Controlling the shuttleball was quite difficult. For me, the most difficult part was to kick the ball with my inner side of my foot. If I kick it with some other parts of my foot, the ball would definitely go the wrong direction.

After trying playing shuttleball, I think it was far more difficult than I expected.  The ball itself was quiet heavy, and the net of the court is high. Your feet need enough strength to kick it over. Besides, it was hard to control. I could only kick two times continuously. No wonder Ms. Yeh suggested to tie the shuttle ball at the very beginning, or the ones who couldn’t kick it would be frustrated easily. To me, playing shuttleball was interesting and I thought it was a kind of sport requiring patience. Although playing shuttleball is a little bit difficult, you can still learn it well, as long as you practice.

This was my first time playing shuttleball. Although I had played shuttlecock before, they were not exactly the same. I was not good at kicking shuttlecock, as well as playing shuttleball. The shuttleball was bigger than the shuttlecock in size but still it was hard to play with it. The players were saying we were not kicking well while watching us playing. I was very clumsy when playing with it, and I could barely kick it twice continuously. This showed how fantastic the players in the shuttleball team were.

Playing shuttleball was not as easy as we thought. It needed a lot of skills. I just could not understand why this sport would be neglected. Maybe it was because its lack of long history.
